Apple watch unlocking car without iPhone

I’ve been trying to unlock my car with my Apple Watch, but without my iPhone nearby, it’s just not working. I’ve held the watch next to the door handle, and nothing happens. Has anyone else had success doing this? I was hoping I could unlock it using only the watch, but so far, no luck.

With my EV9, unlocking the car is as easy as walking up to it while wearing my Apple Watch - no phone needed! To set it up, just open the Wallet app on your watch, tap the Kia card, and scroll down to “Car Key Details.” Make sure “Passive Entry” is toggled on.

If you’re more into NFC unlocking, you’ll need to double-click the side button on your watch first, then hold it up to the door handle. Simple as that!

Alrighty, I'll check that Passive Entry is enabled in the settings in the Wallet app. I hope that would fix it and I don't always need my iPhone close by.
